Alan Ayckbourn's early notes for Just Between Ourselves reveal considerable differences with the final play. Here the notes indicate that it is not just Vera heading for a breakdown, but that Dennis is also struggling with mental issues too.

Just Between Ourselves was the first Alan Ayckbourn production to tour overseas from Theatre in the Round at the Library Theatre, Scarborough. This is a poster for its European left leg of the tour.

In 1978, Just Between Ourselves was adapted for television as part of the 10th anniversary celebrations for Yorkshire Television. Richard Briers played Dennis with Stephen Moore (front right) as Neil & Rosemary McHale as Pam (front left).

Just as Just Between Ourselves was the final production at the Library Theatre, Scarborough, so it was for the company's second home at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in the Round, Scarborough. Robin herford (top right) directed the production as Alan Ayckbourn was busy with the company's move to its present home, the Stephen Joseph Theatre.

During 2009, the Royal & Dernagte Theatre, Northampton, celebrated Alan Ayckbourn's 70th birthday with a season long season. Just Between Ourselves was directed by Mark Rosenblatt with (pictured) Kim Wall as Dennis, Dorothy Atkinson as Vera & Matthew Cottle as Neil.

Alan Ayckbourn was due to revive Just Between Ourselves at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough, during 2020. Unfortunately, the production was cancelled due to the Covid-19 global pandemic but not before advertising had begun for the production including this poster.
